Fellowship
I have been awarded special fellowships which will add further momentum to the drive to commercialise
the university’s research outputs. I was selected as Medici Fellow under a programme which improves awareness of - and support for - commercial development of research within ten Midlands universities.
Medici gives academics and researchers additional training in entrepreneurship. Outputs include consultancy work, patent applications, technology licences, spin-out companies and collaborative research.

I am working with colleagues to investigate the
commercial potential of their work in embedded computing for smart homes and
smart environments. There are many opportunities for translating this technology
into competitive-edge solutions for independent living and monitoring the
wellbeing of vulnerable people at home.
